PhD and MSc alumni

In addition to a number taking up post-doctoral research positions in astrophysics in the UK, former Bristol astrophysics PhD students have also worked as research fellows in the USA and France and on the staff at the European Southern Observatory.

Former students have also moved into research in other fields. such as cognative systems, while others work for the Ministry of Defence, for IBM, as a sofware development team leader in the finance sector, as director of operations for a television company and in leading secondary maths or physics teaching in schools.

Research MSc students typically go on to take PhDs, with 5 of the 6 students who completed their MSc in the last 4 years going on to a PhD course at Bristol or elsewhere in the UK or Europe.
