Postdoctoral
Fellowships provide up to three years' funding for less experienced researchers (i.e. those with no more than seven years’ research experience between the start of the postgraduate programme leading to the award of a PhD)

Advanced
Fellowships provide up to five years' funding for researchers
with at least two years of postdoctoral experience.
- The Returners
to Research Scheme provides support for those seeking to
resume an academic research career (after a period of absence due,
for example, to family or other caring responsibilities, long-term
illness or working in a non-research role) to develop a proposal
suitable for submission to the STFC Fellowship schemes.
