By train

There are two mainline railway stations in Bristol, Temple Meads and Parkway, however Temple Meads is much closer to the University. There are regular connections to both stations from London Paddington station.

At Temple Meads train station you can take a taxi to the H.H. Wills Physics Laboratory on Tyndall Avenue (costing about £5-7 depending on time) or take the city bus services 8 or 9 (£1.30 per trip), departing at "Cotham Hill" or "Tyndall Avenue".

By coach

Bristol coach station is in the centre of the city. From there you can take a taxi to the H.H. Wills Physics Laboratory on Tyndall Avenue, or exit the bus station and take a short walk up Park Row, past the Bristol Royal Infirmary until you reach an Esso Fuel Station. Opposite this is a right hand turn onto Woodland Road. At the top of the hill there is a right turn onto Tyndall Avenue and the H.H. Wills Physics Laboratory is on the right.

By air

Bristol airport is located about 10 miles outside the city. It is served by taxis, and by a regular shuttle bus to the city centre. Bristol International Flyer Service 330 stops on clifton triangle (opposite "Forbidden Planet" Sci-Fi store), 5 minutes walk from the H.H. Wills Physics Laboratory. Service 331 stops at Temple Meads train station and the bus station, directions from here are detailed above.

National Express run regular coaches from London airports Heathrow and Gatwick to Bristol. From Stanstead airport it is best to change coaches in central London (Victoria coach station) or take a bus to Heathrow and change to the Bristol coaches from there.
