starburst Quantum Photonics Workshop

Bristol 17-18 September 2009

Introduction

The workshop is aimed at younger researchers looking for collaborative research links with other universities and groups on a national and international scale, but will also include talks from prominent researchers in the field.

The workshop will be two days in total, and will take place in the new Nano Science and Quantum Information (NSQI) building at the University of Bristol, adjacent to the H.H. Wills Physics Laboratory. Visitors will be housed in rooms in The Clifton Hotel on St. Pauls Road in Clifton and there will be a workshop dinner at Browns Brasserie on the 17th September.

The workshop is supported by QIPIRC which will support UK-based IRC-funded students and staff to attend this workshop.

         


Speakers

We are very proud to announce that there will be two keynote speakers at the workshop.

Professor Geoff Pryde from Griffith University in Australia will be speaking on "Noiseless linear amplification and distillation of entanglement" whilst Professor Susumu Noda from Kyoto University in Japan will be giving a talk entitled "Manipulation of photons by photonic crystals - Recent Progresses and New Trends."

We are also very pleased to announce that Professor Peter Smith from the University of Southampton and Dr Terry Rudolph from Imperial College, London will both be giving invited talks.
