Collaborators: J Gornall & D Robert (Biological Sciences)

As the wavelength of the laser can be tuned so that it doesn't adversely affect living cells, various cells and cellular components can be investigated using the DHA. Biology can be used as either a source of components to act in a functional structure, or can be investigated using nanotools. For example, the response of cells to stimulation by a nanotool can be followed by tracking changes to the cell structure. The signalling between cells and the effects of mechanical deformations to a cell surface are also investigated.
