Positron Group

The Positron Group is part of the Correlated Electron Systems Group at the University of Bristol. Positrons are anti-electrons, and in Bristol we use them to investigate the properties of materials by annihilating their electrons and making measurements of the gamma rays that are produced. We also complement our positron measurements with visits to synchrotron sources and often make our own ab-initio calculations to support our work. 16^th International Conference on Positron Annihilation (ICPA-16)

The 16^th International Conference on Positron Annihilation (ICPA-16) will be held at the H. H. Wills Physics Laboratory, University of Bristol, United Kingdom in the period of August 19-24, 2012 . This conference is the 16^th in a series of meetings dating back to 1965 and it continues the long holding tradition of showcasing novel and exciting research from the field of positron annihilation. This conference has a broad remit, attracting participants from across the positron annihilation community, and providing a forum for younger researchers/ postgraduate students to interact with leaders in the field and present their work.

Along with a full oral and poster programme, the conference will include a number of invited talks (speakers to be confirmed shortly), encompassing a breadth of topics across the field of positron annihilation, from the fundamentals of positron/positronium physics to new results, theoretical pursuits and novel experimental methods.
