My research interests are in the theory of electronic structure of solids, with particular emphasis on theories of superconductors and systems with strong electron correlation. This especially includes high temperature superconductors and other unconventional superconductors possessing d-wave or p-wave pairing symmetry.
I am head of the Theoretical Physics Group in the University of Bristol, and on the executive committee of the Bristol branch of the University and College Union UCU . Outside the university I am chair of the Collaborative Computational Project CCP9 for the study of the electronic properties of condensed matter systems. I am on the executive board of the journal Superconductor Science and Technnology SUST , and I am on the committee of the South-West UK branch of the Institute of Physics .
