LuNi2B2C is an unusual superconductor: Experimental reconstruction of the occupation density in the (001) plane through the centre of the Brillouin zone. Black is the lowest occupancy and white the highest. This can be used to identify the Fermi surface, which is a very important concept in the physics of electrons in metals.
