Applicants should specify clearly the research group(s) whose work is of interest to them and ask their named referees to complete a recommendation via the online system. The recommendations should be from at least two academic referees who know the applicant personally and who can comment on their aptitude for research. You should include copies of certificates, transcripts and any other supporting documents (including English language certificates, if applicable) with your application. It is helpful to attach a brief curriculum vitae and a description of your research interests along with any other supporting documentation. Applications are considered by research group leaders and by the Director of Physics Graduate School. Suitable UK applicants are usually invited to visit the School of Physics, meet prospective advisers and discuss research opportunities.
Fees
For students taking full-time research degrees (PhD or MSc(R)) the postgraduate tuition fee payable for the session 2011-2012 is £3,732 per annum for students from the UK and EU countries, and £14,200 per annum for overseas students. In addition we estimate that for a single person to live adequately in Bristol he or she requires at least £9,600 per year.
