Physics prizes
A number of prizes are awarded each year to students showing outstanding ability. The prizes are decided by a panel of academic staff
and most are presented to the students at a special ceremony held in the School of Physics on Graduation Day. The prizes are listed below.
- The MSci Norman Thompson Project Prize is awarded for the best final year MSci project.
- The BSc Norman Thompson Project Prize is awarded for the best final year BSc project.
- The Winton Capital Management Prize is awarded for the most meritorious final year project in astrophysics.
- The Detica Prize is awarded for the best overall performance in single honours physics programmes.
- The George Pugh Memorial Prize is awarded for outstanding contribution to the life of the School and the wider student community.
- The Sir Nevill Mott Prize is awarded to the best student on the Mathematics/Physics Joint Honours degree. It is presented
by the School of Mathematics.
