A student performing practical work

Thinking about financing your studies can seem confusing to begin with and there have been a lot of changes in UK government policy in the last few years. However we have an excellent Student Funding Office in Bristol with trained advisers, and their website is very comprehensive in the information presented - including a Funding Calculator to help you calculate the level of support available, from the University of Bristol, the government and from loans. To ensure that you have all the latest information about extra help available at Bristol, such as scholarships and bursaries, please regularly check the University's Money matters website.

If you have any questions about financial support remember you can telephone our Student Funding Office on +44 (0) 117 331 7972 , or e-mail student-funding@bris.ac.uk at any time, even before you apply.

The Basics

Being an undergraduate student anywhere involves two main expenses: tuition fees and living expenses. If you are an international student you can find detailed information about tuition fees here.

Whether you are a UK, EU or international student, your living expenses will mainly be for accommodation (unless you are a UK student living rent-free at home), food, entertainment and books. You can get a good idea of the cost of accommodation from the University's Accommodation Guide. Your other living expenses will depend to a large extent on your way of life.

Help available for UK students

Details of bursary provision and scholarships can be found here.

Further information for international students

Information including fee descriptions and the definition of home and overseas fee status (including that of students from the Channel Islands or Isle of Man) can be found at the Tuition fees for international students web page.
